Maho Beach plane spotting
Maho Beach is renowned as Sint Maarten's most famous beach, uniquely situated right at the start of the SXM international airport's landing strip.
Beautiful, but not always as relaxing as you might expect, especially when big jumbo jets are taking off!
It's incredibly exciting to see airplanes landing just a few meters above you while standing on the beach; you almost feel you can touch them. This is one of the few places in the world where you can actually watch planes land and take off directly in their flight path. Definitely an experience of a lifetime!
Not all the beach is exposed to the blasts from taking off aircraft, and it's still possible to relax on the white sands and swim in the turquoise waters.
Right on the beach, you can also enjoy a drink at the Sunset Beach Bar, waiting for the next airplane to arrive or take off.
Maho Beach is also a three-minute walk from bars, restaurants, shops and St. Maarten's largest casino. This makes it a place where it's difficult to get bored!
